Gone Fishing

or how to turn small cars big again

Some of you may or may not know that, on weekends, I work at a model car shop. Lately, we've created an Instagram page to showcase new arrivals and to do some 21st-century social media marketing.

This is a pretty good excuse to play around with cars and use other items in the store as decoration. Most notably 1/87 scale figures that usually go with model trains. When you put them next to "big" 1/18 scale cars though you can create some fun scenarios.

The extravagant aero of the Porsche 935/78 for example now serves as a resting place for fishermen looking to catch the legendary "Moby Dick"

The Mercedes G 4X4² is already a giant car. But for 1/87 scale climbers, it's more like the size of a mountain.

You don't always need human figures to create these "inter-scale" pictures. Some small and big cars just fit together. Sometimes it's even period correct like this 1971 Le Mans-winning Porsche 917 and its smaller VW support vehicle in classic Martini colors.

The possibilities are endless. Make sure to keep an eye out for more pics like these here on Lald and off course the Instagram page of Modelbouw Aalst.
