Fantastic news today as the VW Up! GTI has been re-launched after a short break in production last year and I can't wait to have a drive!
I've been looking forward to a new Up! for some time now as it's one of my favourite small hatchbacks. The Up! whether it be in standard, top range, or GTI form has always seemed to be a step above in quality to its sisters, the Seat Mii and Skoda Citigo. The news today has honestly made my day as ever since I saw the original Up! GTI on The Grand Tour I fell in love with it's raspy exhaust note and tartan seats.
Initial figures state that the car hasn't changed much from the previous model but it has now been made compliant with the new WLTP Emmissions Testing. Other than that it has the new VW logo and a snazzy set of wheels on low profile tires. It still has the same 3 cylinder engine, outputting 113bhp, which as before puts it at a lot more than the standard Up!.
Although not too much has changed, there has been a price increase from £13,750 to £15,895 before options. This could be due to a new Up! R-Line edition which will also join the range from £14,280.

I'm very much looking forward to reviewing the new Up! GTI. I was looking at reviewing the old model but this will be nice to see what the new one is like and possibly review both new to compare the two if needs be.
