Good news! The Dacia Duster pickup is finally here and it costs €23,000
After two years of waiting, it's finally here. What do you think?
Around two years ago, Dacia unveiled a Duster pickup concept car which we all enjoyed very much but never thought anything would come of it. However, today is the day it actullay comes out and we are gobsmacked at its beauty.
It's based on the previous-gen Duster and it only comes as a single cab, but that's absolutely fine with us. It is also only available in Romania which means a lot of us will be moving country by the end of the year.
What are the specs?
So, the truck bed itself measures 1.65 meters (5.4 ft) in length, has a volume of 1,000 liters, and is capable of carrying up to 500 kg (1,102 lbs).
To put this into perspective, the most basic Ford F-150 has a bed length of 5.5 ft (1.7 m) and can carry up to around three times that of the Duster, but then again, that's a massive pickup.
When you compare this to the standard Duster, you will notice a size difference as the pickup is 19 mm shorter bu its ground clearance is 14 mm higher at 224 mm.
This version is of course based on the 4×4 variant of the Duster, the pickup variant and has a perfectly adequate 113 HP 1.5-liter BlueDCi turbodiesel engine mated to a six-speed manual transmission. Do you really need any more than that?
On top of that, Dacia says this pickup is good for around 57mpg which is pretty impressive for a pickup truck.
What do I get with it and how much is it?
Well, if you are wanting to buy one of these then you have the choice of only one exterior colour option which is the white you can see here. To go alongside the paint are a set of 16-inch allow wheels.
Standard equipment in the Duster pickup includes Hill Start assist, Hill Descent Control, ESP, ABS with EBD, as well as front and side airbags.
And now the part you have all been wating for...the price. The Duster pickup has a starting price of €22,546 in Romania (inc VAT). Yes, that’s a €4,046 increase over the Duster Blue dCi 115 4WD SUV in Comfort trim on which it is based but it's a pickup for crying out loud! Who doesn't want that?
Romania-based customers can place orders right now but there is no promise of it being shipped elsewhere just yet.
