Goodwood announce NASCAR demo for 77th Members' Meeting

This spring American muscle will meet the genteel English countryside when a dozen NASCAR chargers will be burning rubber at the historic Goodwood Motor Circuit.

Goodwood has announced that around a dozen NASCAR machines will line up on the grid before setting off on a high-speed, high-volume demonstration run around the circuit, at the 77th Members' Meeting, which is being held on 6-7 April, 2019.

They may come in road car-esque body shapes, but thanks to their 850bhp, 5.8 litre pushrod V8s, modern NASCAR racers can hit 200mph in a straight line.

“I think for most fans NASCAR is all about the noise, and we will have that in abundance,” said Matt Hearn, Motorsport Content Manager.

“The old-school pushrod V8 design is one of the greatest sounding engines of all time, and having over a dozen of them on track at once is sure to stop everyone in their tracks. It certainly won’t be for the faint-hearted!”

The news comes just a week after Goodwood confirmed a selection of Le Mans Prototype cars would also be strutting their stuff at the meeting.
