Sony has today announced that the upcoming PS5 racer Gran Turismo 7 has been pushed back from it’s original 2021 release date into 2022.
The pandemic is said to be the main cause of the delay, forcing employees to work from home and slowing development of the game. The official statement from Sony said "With the ongoing pandemic, it's a dynamic and changing situation and some critical aspects of game production have been slowed over the past several months. We'll share more specifics on GT7's release date when available."
For now we can only hope for a release early in 2022, but the safety of the development team is obviously their top priority along with aiming to release a fully finished, bug free game.

FOOKIN HELL
Still not got any reason to buy a PS5 yet then
Demon’s souls is still the main reason to buy I think, if you like that type of game
I was thinking the same thing. I am so mad I was wanting for this so long
Good news! This will give the semiconductor industry to catch up with demands and perhaps for Sony to release a Gran Turismo Edition of the PlayStation 5 as a bundled package at the title launch. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I guess I’ll have to continue hosting car meets on GTA 5 in the meantime!
To be fair, 2022 might be a very good time to release it seeing as that marks the 25th anniversary of the franchise. Should be something special. It'll give the creators more time to put more stuff in like more cars and tracks. Also, didn't GT Sport get released 2 years after it was first announced?
