Grasping the nettle

- The start of the new process - getting the Morgan sorted. Three years of little movement, (after 5 years of no movement!), the Morgan has an appointment with a very nice man who has had this car apart twice already.
- The Morgan's new home for a while, guessed at 12 months. It's all in one piece here but very shortly it will be stripped down and assessed.
- First big surprise of the strip down, a rust hole in the inner wing.
- Most woodwork seems OK; the sill boards are fine. I was expecting them to be weak as the panels behind the doors were cracked, but I've been told that is movement on the joints.
- This area is the culprit; the rebuild will see this stiffened by a rebated metal plate.
- Bulkhead and scuttle seem a bit frilly. Partly due to the way it is secured to the frame and partly through wear and tear.
- Jackson Pollock(ish) paint on the bulkhead.
- The less damaged GRP wing
- The more damaged GRP wing - old Audi injury.
- Take-offs, lamp mounts and screen brackets.
- One very tired 1600 cross flow - needs a rebuild but as it was a numbers matching car, I'm a bit reluctant to change the block for the 711M I have in my garage.
- Mice like the taste of foam air cleaners? Or probably just knackered.
- Well apart now - fuel filler hoses are scrap.
- Most of the outer panel work stripped off and the front suspension removed, (worn to the point of making the car undriveable). The chassis is still good, as is the body frame. New side panels needed and some reinforcement.
- As it rested 30/10/2020

Life, time and skill set were getting in the way of a full rebuild, so pass it to the professionals!
