GREASER GARAGE 1000 SUPERSPORT: THE CHARM OF ENDURANCE
This week the Genoa Greaser Garage presented its latest creation
It was 2007 when the Ducati management developed a new variant for the Sportclassic series, the GT1000. Inspired by the 750 GT produced between 1971 and 1974 its design is by Pierre Terblanche.
Based on the tubular steel frame of the Sport1000, the motorcycle had a 992 cc Desmodue V-Twin 82 hp engine managed by a six-speed gearbox. The suspensions had a fork with inverted stems in the front section and the rear section a swingarm with a central single shock absorber while the braking system consisted of two disc brakes.
Produced until 2010, the GT1000 was the last bike in the Sportclassic series and using an example of this model, the Greaser Garage produced an enhanced variant at the request of one of its customers: the 1000 SuperSport. The bike equipped new aluminium fairings whose design was inspired by the Ducati MH900e built between 2001 and 2002.
To improve performance, some mechanical components have been updated such as a Mass Engineering stainless steel exhaust system and a dry slipper clutch derived from a Ducati 848. The latest improvements are a new LED lighting system and analogue instrumentation made by Motogadget.
