Der chinesische Autokonzern Great Wall Motors will den europäischen Elektroautomarkt aufmischen. Der Startschuss fällt auf der IAA Mobility in München.

Great Wall Motor – den Namen kannten die meisten deutschen Autofans bislang vielleicht als Partner von BMW für die Produktion elektrifizierter Minis in China. Dabei war Great Wall Motor der erste chinesische Autohersteller, der auch in Europa produzierte – und das schon Jahre vor der chinesischen Produktionspartnerschaft für britische Stromer.

Gegründet wurde Great Wall Motors 1984 in der nordchinesischen Metropole Baoding, wo es bis heute sitzt. 2003 war es Chinas erster privater Automobilhersteller, der an die Börse ging. Heute hat der Konzern weltweit mehr als 60.000 Angestellte, 100 Tochterfirmen, verkauft Fahrzeuge in 60 Ländern und hat außerhalb Chinas bereits beträchtliche 700.000 Fahrzeuge abgesetzt. Doch Great Wall Motors hat auch weiterhin „great targets“, große Ziele also. Eines davon ist: mit seiner Elektro-Marke GMW ORA in Europa durchstarten – und das mit ganz viel Liebe.

Unter dem Motto „ORA loves you“ präsentiert sich GWM ORA nun erstmals in Europa und stellt das ORA CAT Concept auf der IAA Mobility 2021 vor. Und dafür findet die Marke auch die entsprechenden Worte: „Das Wichtigste an unserem neuen Lieblingsauto? Dass es so ist wie wir. Dass wir, wenn wir es fahren, das Gefühl haben, alle Möglichkeiten zu haben, alle Orte besuchen können – gemeinsam mit denen, die wir lieben. Dieses Gefühl haben wir im ORA CAT Concept.“

Drei Adjektive sind es, die den Markenkern ausmachen sollen: jung, kreativ, progressiv – und all das unter der Maxime der „user centricity“. Mit diesem Gedanken wurde das ORA CAT Concept mit jenen entwickelt, die das Auto auch fahren sollen und das vielerorts auch bereits tun. GWM ORA hat dabei insbesondere „Junge und Junggebliebene“ mit Community-Denken im Kopf, die aber dennoch ihren ganz eigenen Blick auf die Welt haben.
