Grimselpass - Switzerland
Unique Landscapes, even for the Alps, are meeting one of the Swiss gems of tarmac and asphalt.
Back in the high central alps we encounter a series of hydroelectric dams, which are accessible by the well-known Grimselpass. I do strongly recommend the northern climb over the southern here, as the southern wall is a very bad case of spaghetti-road. Meaning a series of straight-hairpin-straight-hairpin... without much variety in the driving itself. But the northern climb is a true dream of a road and landscape.
You always seem to see rough rock somewhere close as well as far from you, no matter where you are on the road. The number of trees rapidly decreases, but a layer of green moss, bushes and grass will stay with you all the way. This in particular creates a great visual contrast to the mountains and rocks, which makes the scenery always interesting to watch.
The first kilometers are great already, but it becomes really breathtaking once you reach the first dam and coresponding lake. The road snugs to the shore and offers an amazing view up to what`s still to come. The Almost 50/50 ratio of grey and green gives a little northern vibe. At least for me it reminds of scenes of northern european fjord-landscapes as found in Scotland, Norway or Iceland.
The climb continues up to the second lake and the road really starts to go crazy in terms of engineering. Every second curve is hanging of the mountain on a support bridge, an it partly feels like driving right into the sky. Once atop you should stop and get on your feet. Take in the scenery and view that meets you up here, far above the sorrows of everyday-life. And the way down will be as thrilling to drive as the way up.

Lovely video!
I've never heard before "spaghetti road" but I thought the same way in some mountain passes! :)
