Grocery Store Lot Spot: 1994 Subaru Sambar Dias Extra-S in Eugene, OR

Kei vans are starting to make themselves known in the 33rd State.

While #JDM kei vans have been popular for a while in other states, they are taking a while to catch on in Oregon, due to legislation that doesn't guarantee these oddities registration, even if over 25 years old. This daily-driven '94 #Subaru Sambar Dias "Extra-S" has 2017 issue Oregon license plates, and it is a refreshing sight in a city where the Hiace and Delica are starting to become routine sightings.

At 660cc and around 10 feet long, with a 3-cylinder gas engine, this is a good deal smaller than a VW van or a Hiace, and it is optimistically a 4-seater given typical American body types.

Can't say the same of most places on the East Coat. JDM imports are very rare here in Georgia and the stuff that does get imported tends to be sports cars or kei trucks (never vans). The big offroaders are rare as hens teeth here and I've not managed to spot one.
