GT4 Europe: Rabindra/Conde show pace in Monza but incidents mars races
The Indo-French pairing were caught out in incidents in both races.
The pair of Akhil Rabindra and Hugo Conde kick-started their 2021 GT4 Europe campaign at Monza with AGS Events Racing in the #45 Aston Martin Vantage in Silver class. They started the weekend finishing 41st and 27th overall in the two practice sessions.
The Qualifying 1 - for Race 1 - then had Conde setting up the 17th fastest time in overall category, while he was 13th in Silver class. At the same time, in Qualifying 2 - for Race 2 - Rabindra finished 11th overall and was seventh in the Silver class.
The first race on Saturday didn't go long for Conde, as he dropped to 19th on Lap 1. While fighting for track position, the Frenchman spun around and hit the barrier to cause a safety car, which ended his race on Lap 2 itself.
The second race on Sunday had Rabindra drop places on Lap 1 as well, as he ran 17th when a safety car was deployed. The Indian had tough time, though, as he dropped further back around pit stop time. He also had to take an evasive action from an incident ahead of him.
There some salvage work from him and Conde as they were back into the Top 20. Unfortunately, he was caught in another incident later in the race, which ended their run, five laps before the finish. They were classified in 35th in overall order still.
