Guessing the country by A CAR! | "Geoguessr"
Im going on a jurney in my imaginary Discovery and try to guess the land I am in by taking a closer look at the first car I can find! It´s great fun!
For those of you who dont know what "Geoguessr" is about - I´ll try to explain! "Geoguessr" is a game, based on the google streetview. The computer drops you on a random location, somewhere on the worldmap. You can look around and move forwards and backwards, just like you´re use to it from Google streetview. Then, when you have discovered your enviroment, you mark that place on earth, where you think you are!
If you want to take a look yourselfe, here you go - but dont forget to come back;D : play "Geoguessr"
My rules:
Unlike the original game, where you can walk around and discover the local enviroment untill you made up your mind, my game is a bit harder! Instead of touring through the whole digital world, I have to look out for a car. The first car I can see, I have to stop and guess my current location by taking a closer look at the car I found. Doesn´t matter if it passes me, overtakes me or simply is parked somewhere. I think you get the picture!
Joker! If I´m struggeling, I´m aloud to ask Google any question like: "What..", "Where...", "When.." ... let´s go!
Round 1 - The ugliest car I have ever seen!
My jurney beginns here!
Now then! My imaginary Discovery took me here! I have no idea where on earth I am. When you take a look in to the distance, you can see some big, beautiful mountains. So I´m certainly not in the Netherlands. Well, but that cant help me! I have to watch out for a car! I´ll drive a bit further. Suddently, an unidentifiable something pulls up next to me and tries to overtake me. What on earth..?
It kind of "spawned" right next to me!
This, what ever "this" is, is probably the ugliest "car" I have ever seen! So ugly, I would interrupt this "holiday" here and go straight back to work - voluntary! But I think I know, at least, on what continent I am! It must be Asia. I can tell by that little "truck" in the background. This car, I speculate that´s what it schould be, reminds me of the mini cooper! So am I in the Great Britain of the future? Or just in a "I dont know what copyright is!" - country. And there is another thing to observe! I am driving on the wrong... ähm... I mean right side of the road! Wich means, I now have to find an asian country, where theyre horrible imitations of Britsh classics, have to drive on the left side of the road! I think I might be in Japan! But im not sure if they are driving on the left side! So I hang on to my Joker. Typing "Where are the japanese driving"
Thanks a lot - internet!
According to the internet, the japanese are driving on the left! So, I made up my mind and go for Japan.
Yes! I´m right! Im in Japan. more precisely near Kumamoto. 488.4 miles, not bad at all! Im sorry, but I cant say anything to the "car". I can´t find any further information about it. An I honestly don´t want to anyway ;D.
Round 2 - Spotted a very rare car!
An empty motorway in the middle of nowhere!
Leaving Japan behind, I finaly made it to the next mysterious location! Unlike in Japan im driving on the right side! At the first look I´m on a Motorway, with a view over a flat area and some hills in the distance. I think I´m in Europe!? - I will watch out for a car that can tell me more!
Opel Astra on the other side of the Motorway spotted!
So I take a look around me and suddenly a Opel Astra passes me on the other side of the empty Motorway! Yeah- the Motorway is empty, so it isnt in Germany or another central-europe country... cars in this country must be very rare.
Now, lets take a look at the car. It is an Astra, obviously. The first question that comes to my mind is, is it a normal Hatchback or is it a Saloon version? Another question is, what does the numberplate tell me about the country, where me and my Discovery got stranded? I´m quite sure I am looking for an europen cuntry where Opel sells the Astra Hatchback version. My instinct tells me that I must be somewhere in the south-east of europe- the balkans!
So, next step is to find out more about these interseting points. I pull over to get hand of my Laptop for making some research about the Opel Astra!
Wikipedia helps by figuring out where on earth you are!
And finaly. I made some great research about this car. On Wikipedia it says that the Astra G (build between 1998-2004), especialy the saloon version in wich I´m interested in, was continued producing in Poland between 2004 and the end of 2009, as well as in Turky! Furthermore the article tells that these cars were sold in central and estern Europe!
Im quite sure I must be somewehre between Poland and Turkey then! Or maybe in Poland, wich Im not sure about because the Motorway I´m driving on gives me a view of some hills. Poland people don´t know what mountains and hills are- ´cause they do not have any there anyway! On the other hand, turkey is big, but I think it is more "hilly" than what I can see here! Well, let´s mark the middle! - Rumania!
Im not in Poland as it turns out! even not in Rumania or Turkey! Me and my Discovery are driving on an Motorway in Greece! From Japan to Greece with just one tank filling! Wow. To discribe my current location a bit nearer- Im on the Motorway 2 wich brings you to a nearby city called Thessaloniki. Hope they have a fillingstation, must be necesary by now!
Round 3 - "Are we there yet???"
It´s a city - obviusly!
I found a fillingstation on the way, and now I find myself here! Lost in a big city. Normaly you can tell in wich city you are by looking at the skyline. But here! There is only a river, ... and some trees beside it and... some buildings on the other shore side. Oh - wait! what´s that? It wasn´t there this morning! I think it fell out of James luggage ;D - he´s my traveling companion, by the way!
All these buildings are no good. What a luck that I am in an exhausted, big city, crammed with cars!
It´s a Peugeot
The first vehicle I have found. A Peugeot...3-0-... 4-0-... I don´t know. All I know it is not a very nice one to look at! This is the result of a meeting, that Peugeot once held in Paris! They dessided to stop making sporty, reliable cars like the 306 GTI, and made ugly cars subsequently! Terrible, horrible, ugly, nasty, unreliable, uncomfortable... the only words they know since! You get what I mean ;D
As we all know - the french love theyre nation. And they love their cars too! And if you have ever been to france, you know what cars they drive over there the most! Yes - Only their own munufacturings! There are not as many french cars, in any other european country, as in france it self! Thats why I think I am in france. And because I miss home, I make a quick decision. I go for Paris, thats in france - by the way!
I am a lucky man - ain´t I! 4.9 kilometre. That´s my best guess so far. Apparentlly I am in the capital of france. Paris! Unbelievable, isn´t it! ;D
A Jurney takes an End!
It has been a long imaginary Globetrotting adventure! The Discovery´s kilometrereading now has added 13.000 km more. But now my Discovery can rest awhile, till its about to be driven in to another Roadtrip through the beautiful scenery of the streetview universe!

Really cool👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻keep it up
This was very good! Also I love 3d tuning, and I saw that little game logo on the side of the car
Interesting feature I have found is changing the year of when the images were taken as you can see what cars were around then. It's interesting.
On Geoguessr or Google Maps?
Google maps I think you can travel back in time to 2008
okay the japanese car is a suzuki lapin...give her a break she’s trying her best
