The nation's favourite truck fitter, telly superstar and Mr Porky fanatic Guy Martin will return to race at the 2017 TT, we can reveal.
After refusing offers from most of the top teams over the last eighteen months, we've been told Guy has finally agreed to a deal to ride the all-new Fireblade for this year's TT. Whether he will take part in the traditional TT warm-up at the NW200 remains to be seen, although it's no secret Guy isn't a fan of the event.
This news will come as a shock to some fans who were expecting an announcement of a link up with Triumph to ride in the supersport race on the Daytona 675. This was a more credible proposal after Guy's recent Land-Speed-Record attempt with the company.
It's not yet clear which Honda outfit Guy will race for, although he would feel more at home at the Wilson Craig team where he can keep his head down away from too much attention and PR obligation. There's also the option to partner with John McGuinness at the Honda TT Legends team.
Guy famously took a year out from the TT in 2016 after a poor 2015 performance. He was also not fully fit after a huge crash at the Ulster Grand Prix which saw him fitted with metalwork in his spine and hand. He's since been concentrating on TV work as well as writing another book and has remained tight lipped about any future return to The Island.
With a brand-new Fireblade for 2017 we think Guy has his best chance yet to get that elusive win and tick the TT box off the list once and for all.
