Guy Martin thinks he owns the fastest car in Britain - and it's a Volvo

It's a pretty bold claim, but a few years ago everyone's favourite truck fitter told the Sunday Times his modified Volvo Vox Amazon was "about the fastest car in Britain"
If anyone knows fast, it's Guy. During his 'day job' he's averaged a 131mph lap of the Isle Of Man TT, as well as setting various world records for his Channel 4 TV show 'Speed'.
His Volvo started life as a 1967 Amazon estate in battleship grey. Guy claims it's actually faster than his top spec superbike between 100-200mph, a bold claim. The engine is up from the 90bhp standard to a mind blowing 778bhp thanks to a transplanted 2.8 litre turbocharged engine.
0-60 is sub three seconds and tops out at over 205mph.
Here it is showing a Ferrari 599 GTB how it's done
Guy MartinAlthough it looks like a standard Volvo, I reckon it is about the fastest car in Britain — quicker than any Ferrari, Porsche or even Bugatti. That’s not me boasting — I don’t want to come across as big-headed. It is just a fact.

Just a side note - but he didn’t build it. It was built in Sweden by a Swedish Guy. (See what I did there. 😉)
Named Mattias Vöcks, hence the number plate.
My exact thought. Who cares about the owner today, he just owns it he didn't build it
Isn't Vöcks an engineer at Koenigsegg? It would explain the brakes.
That was YEARS ago...
Unlikely that this is the fastest car in Britain. There are plenty of street legal cars that are way faster, such as Red Victor One. Even Nick Mann's moggy minor would have given it a run for the money in its day.
I suspect our favourite TT racing truck mechanic knows this.
It says for sale on the window. 🤗 I wonder how much they are asking.
