Hamilton's Imola Race: from being a lap down, to P2
Lewis Hamilton had a 'standard' race by the world champions standards, finishing P2 with a few mistakes along the way.
Lewis Hamilton qualified on pole position by 0.035 seconds over Redbull's Sergio Perez. However at the start, both Perez and Hamilton were overtaken by a fast starting Max Verstappen. Hamilton and Verstappen went into turn 1 side by side. However the dutch man edged the Mercedes driver off the circuit causing him to pick up slight front wing damage. Hamilton immediately came on the radio and stated that Verstappen "Pushed me right wide in Turn 1"
Hamilton then set about catching Verstappen's Redbull, however on lap 31, while trying to lap a Williams, Hamilton slid into the gravel at Tosa corner, hitting the barrier. The Mercedes driver managed to reverse back onto the track and carry on going. Within the next couple of laps a red flag was brought out due to Mercedes prodigy, George Russell and Mercedes driver, Valtteri Bottas having a monstrous collision into turn 1.

This brought hamilton back into contention as he was able to unlap himself and fix his damaged front wing.

After the Red flag period Hamilton passed a multitude of cars, finally overtaking Lando Norris' Mclaren on lap 60 for second place, which is where he finished, 22 seconds behind Verstappen's Redbull.
With only 1 point seperating Verstappen and Hamilton, the pressure is on the 7 time world champion to defend his 2020 crown.
