Hello all and welcome to the Monaco GP race day!
Apologies for the radio silence over the last few race weekends, Portugal I was respecting the social media blackout being done by the football world in the UK attempting to show the social media companies realise they need to do more about racism and bullying on their platforms. I missed Spain due to my mental health as at that time was struggling with my anxiety issues with the UK opening up more and more from the Covid lockdowns, I’m feeling a little better now though.
Right, let’s get down to letting you know the Monaco GP qualifying results:
Pole: Charles Leclerc for Ferrari
2nd: Max Verstappen for Red Bull
3rd: Valtteri Bottas for Mercedes
Well, that’s was a surprise wasn’t it! A Ferrari getting pole position in Monaco, who’d have thought that would happen this season because I surely didn’t. As I write this post, I do not know whether Charles Leclerc will have any penalties due to crashing his car in Q3 but I believe he should be ok as I did read his gear box wasn’t harmed from the crash. Can he turn this pole into victory or could there be any niggles caused by yesterday’s incident that could scupper his chances, we’ll have to wait and see.
The other shocker of the day is Lewis Hamilton starting 7th for this race! The Mercedes cars were struggling to get their tyres up to temperature this weekend around Monaco which is said to be the cause of his position in today’s race as well as Charles’s crash stopping him from doing another flying lap. Can he make up any places in today’s race or will he struggle to overtake the cars in front, I look forward to seeing if he can as Monaco is a struggle for passing with its narrow roads in many places, this could all come down to pit stop strategy which the Mercs are good at.
I want to give Sebastian Vettel a shout out today as I have to admit he did a great job getting Aston Martin into the top 10 and he starts ahead of his teammate Lance Stroll, which has been a struggle for him this season. Also, feeling for Daniel Ricciardo, who starts 12th in today’s race, as he seems to be having trouble getting the hang of his McLaren this season. I’m hoping he gets to grips with it soon so he can progress with the team and get a podium at some point this season as he really does deserve to do well as he is such a lovable character.
Well, that’s it from me for now, I’ll be back later today with the race results but I also want to hear what your top three driver will be for this race, pop your predictions in the comments below and we’ll see how you get on later.
Have a great day all and enjoy the race!
