Hello, let me first say I'm not really sure why I'm thinking about buying this, but I am. It's a 2005 DB9. Am I going crazy? It has just over 11,000 miles. I'm looking for it to be my daily driver in nice weather. I have never been a car guy, I'm not mechanically inclined and I do not like to tinker. Will this be a reliable car that I can drive daily? I really would appreciate any sound advice that you may have. Lastly, what is a decent price for a 13 year old Aston?
Thanks,
Mark

Update #2
The AM dealer sent me the report and suggested a few fixes. He believed the car needed a good service. He also said the front tires were factory originals and were dry rotted, after replacement the front end should be relined. The next "big" thing was fixing the rough idle at temperature. They believed that changing the ignition coils and spark plugs would do the trick. There were some minor things as well. Of course the Aston Martin dealership wanted to do it themselves at a cost of $11,500.00! The manager of the service department told me it is the cleanest DB9 and in the best shape he has seen in years. There was no apparent oil leaks and he said he would buy it in a heart beat. I e-mailed the dealership I'm purchasing the car from with the "check list" of repairs the car needed. The president of the company called me in less than five minutes and said he had a certified mechanic on sight and they would complete the entire list using genuine AM parts at NO additional cost to me. :D Needless to say, I am very happy. The only down side is it will take a few weeks before the car is ready. I'm hoping to have it on or before the 15th of this month, it's my birthday and what a present it would be.
Just an update. I went to drive it last night and fell in love with it. It is even prettier in person. The interior is virtually spotless (there are a few tiny scuffs on the inside of the driver door). The exterior looks like it had just rolled off the assembly line. It is obvious this car has been loved over the years and kept in a garage. I was impressed with the acceleration from a stand still and the flappy paddle gear box is fun to use. I had someone pull out in front of me and the brakes work well too. :D Right now it is at the AM dealership having a "Pre Delivery Inspection" that covers 160 different items at a cost of $600.00. I'm figuring it is 600 bucks of peace of mind, or a 600 dollar bullet dodger. Hopefully I get good news. If so, the car will be delivered to the house sometime next week. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.
I think as daily it can be expensive but if you want to know more here is a video about how much owning a used vantage cost. youtu.be/hrrFAjxKtj0 he also made a video about if you can use a vantage as daily driver maybe these can help you
Thanks Sebastian, I'll check them both out.
ok, you're welcome and welcome here too Drivetribe
I don't know but older (maybe even this) British cars are not so popular for the best responsibility. I think £70 K or $nearly 100K would be the max price for me. It would also depend on other things- has it crashed, has it got a proper service, and more.
Daniel it is for sale for close to $48K, and the CarFax says that there has been no accidents and that service has been done on it regularly. From what I can discern from other DB9s for sale here in the States is that $48K is on the high side for...

Well, I've had the DB for a couple of months now and the car is stunning. I love driving it every day and I am getting use to the looks and stairs from other motorists. My wife and I use it as our "date" car and take it as much as we can. The ride is spectacular and acceleration is amazing. Getting on the expressway is so easy. There is never any thought of " Can I make it in front of this guy?", of course I can. It is like driving a rocket. I "uncorked" the muffler and it sounds beautiful all of the time. Thanks again for all of the advice given, it is truly appreciated.
