Hennessey is well known in the automotive community for its tuning prowess for big power numbers. Now they will be taking on the C8 Corvette to the tune of 1200hp.
Here's the story from Henessey's website:
"Sealy, Texas (December 3, 2019)—The Team from Hennessey Performance Engineering (HPE) has big plans for the 2020 C8 Corvette. HPE will offer up to 1200 hp for the new mid-engine Corvette with a specially designed twin turbo system that will include a specially built LT2 V8 engine with upgraded engine internals including forged aluminum pistons (10.0:1 compression ratio) and forged steel connecting rods. The HPE1200 Twin Turbo C8 Corvette will also incorporate an upgraded and fortified factory dual clutch transmission."
So lets break that down a bit. 1200hp puts this car in legitimate hypercar territory and would have similar power numbers to some Koenigseggs and Bugattis. No small feat. It's also mentioned in the press release that you'll get a bevy of carbon upgrades as evidenced by the totally 'murica pics above.
Also worth noting is the name of the car, the HPE1200 Corvette. No doubt a nod to the power output. The HPE1200 will also have a stainless-steel exhaust system which, according to Hennessey, will give "improved sound and a slight power increase."
We're excited to see this thing come out. I mean come on guys it's going to have a freaking roof scoop! If that doesn't sell you on this, than nothing will.
