Hennessey Builds First 1000bhp Jeep Gladiator
John Hennessey isn't one for subtletly. He loves to give us big power numbers and crazy creations and this, the Maxiums Gladiator, is his latest Frankenstein's Monster. Hennessey have taken the Jeep Gladiator, an already awesome go-anywhere pickup truck, and stuck a Hellcat lump in the front! Admittedly, we have already seen this car before in the form of a CAD render, but the one pictured here at the top is the real deal and it's headed to SEMA in Las Vegas very, very soon!
Wanting to create, in his words, "the ultimate Jeep Gladiator", John Hennessey has stuck that Hellcat drivetrain in and supercharged it to develop the magic 1000bhp figure! That goes through an 8 speed automatic gearbox down to some seriously beefy BFG offroad tyres. The car's also had a significant lift done (6 inches, to be precise!) to help with the truck's off-road ability, as well as a stainless steel exhaust system, heavy duty axles and driveshafts for more durability when the going gets a rough . There's some ballsy new front and rear bumpers too for some additional visual muscle and to really cement that go anywhere, off-road image into this quite frankly insane piece of engineering! The interior has had a refresh too, with plenty of customized leather and embossed "Maximus" logos.
So, what's the catch? Well, only 24 of these are ever going to be built and they'll cost $225k a pop. That quoted price is pretty insane, but it does include the price of the base Gladiator from Jeep so maybe it's not as crazy as you might think. It's certainly a very interesting alternative to something like an F-150 Raptor!
