Hennessey tuned Hellcat Redeye produces 1035bhp
If there’s one thing you can expect from John Hennessey, it’s that he will take what is already an extremely fast car, and push it that bit further into the realms of insanity. For now, his modifying touch has graced the more powerful version of the Challenger Hellcat, the Redeye.
In stock form, the Hellcat Redeye produces 797bhp and 707lb-ft of torque from its 6.2L supercharged V8. Thanks to Hennessey’s upgrades however, it now develops a colossal 1035bhp and 808lb-ft of torque.
While there is a caveat to this figure - that being it’s measured while the car is running on race fuel - Hennessey’s modifications are certain to see the Redeye producing significantly more power while the car is running on less explosive jungle juice. Precisely what the power is on more everyday fuel however, Hennessey hasn’t disclosed.
Hennessey is also yet to release the car’s performance statistics. With the standard Redeye being able to achieve 0-60mph in 3.4 seconds, and reach the quarter mile in 10.8 at 131mph, Hennessey’s tuned version is sure to eclipse it on the drag strip.
The extra oomph is achieved thanks to a new 4.5 litre supercharger, an upgraded supercharger pulley, new throttle bodies, new fuel injectors, new high flow cats, and a new high-flow induction system. The price for these modifications is $34,950 - which also includes a 200 mile road test to ensure the surgery has gone well.
Add the cost of the tune onto the price of a brand new Redeye, and you’re looking at a 1000 horsepower car for $106,300. While that is a lot of money, you have to admit that it isn’t all that much for something that produces the same amount of power on race fuel as a McLaren Speedtail.
But what do you guys think? If you had a Hellcat Redeye, would you opt for the upgrade, or would you stick with “just” 797bhp? Let me know in the comments.
