Hennessey's 2020 GMC Sierra and Chevrolet Silverado are both really, really fast

John Hennessey and his madcap quest for supreme speed and power has once again created some seriously insane creations. This time he's turned his attention to the Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra pickup trucks. Whilst these trucks are ubiquitous (perhaps even a bit of a boring sight!) in North America, these versions of the perennial full-sized pickup favourites are anything but ordinary. Hennessy offers an option called the Goliath Package for the versions that are equipped with the 6.2-litre V8 and it transforms a truck that's already got a fair bit of poke into something that might be a tad terrifying!

To turn these trucks into absolute demons both on and off road, Hennessey fits the V8 with a 2.9-litre supercharger running 6 lbs of boost. The engine and supercharger also have a whole host of intercooling and induction systems and the engine has a custom camshaft, Chromoly hardened pushrods, a crankcase ventilation system and a remap thrown in for good measure. All of these mean that both the Chevrolet and GMC trucks equipped with the Goliath Package pump out 700 hp at 6,300 rpm. This is enough to get them from 0-60 in 4.2 seconds, the same time as a BMW M2 Competition!

Whilst a BMW M2 Competition would definitely still beat this big American beast on a racetrack, you definitely wouldn't see the Goliath Package-upgraded trucks struggle off-road. Hennessey have really focused in on off-road performance, with both trucks getting proper chunky 35" Toyo off-road tyres and (on certain trim levels) a 6" lift kit. There's also a very cool new front bumper design with a built-in LED light bar for that full overland cred that you'll definitely want if you pay up for one of these! Hennessy haven't cut corners on the interior of the two Goliath Package-spec models they offer either. Each car they sell will have plenty of additional details away from the exterior including embroidered headrests, a dash plaque that contains the truck's serial number and a special engine plaque. A complete diamond-stitched interior is avaliable as an optional extra should you want to be extra-fancy with your new super truck.

So, how much will you have to pay up if you want the Goliath Package treatment on your Chevy Silverado or GMC Sierra? Well, the base price for the upgrade kit is $29,950 and if you want the off-road kit that includes that epic 6" lift you'll need to pay $18,950 on top of that. The aforementioned diamond stitching is a $5,950 option too, as are electronic fold-out steps for $3,450. If you want your truck to be as loud and proud as possible, you'll want to pay out $5,950 for a ram air hood and $2,750 for a stainless steel cat-back exhaust. Add those on top of the price you'll have to pay for a standard Silverado or Sierra that qualifies for the package and it definitely looks like you could be spending a hell of a lot of money! It might be money well spent considering Hennessey are only going to be making a hundred of each of the Silverado and Sierra models per year; you're definitely getting something that's a fairly exclusive product.

You might be thinking that you could just go out and buy an M2 Competition to see if you can thrash one of these Goliath Hennesseys, right? Well, you could if you could afford it. If you don't have the money to indugle yourself in a fantastic small sports car like the M2 Competition, there's always this great BMW i8 Model by Rastar. Whilst it definitely won't win any drag races it certainly won't break the bank and it has loads of great extra details including working LED lights and remote-opening scissor doors.

  • Fast in a straight line doesn't merit anything anymore.

  • If I bought a modified truck, I’d want mine to be a Toyota Hilux modified by Arctic Trucks.
