- Road and Track

1. Alfa Romeo 4C - 144 Sold

Perhaps one of the prettiest cars of the past few years the 4C represented Alfa Romeo's return to the sports car game, and was renowned by critics for being lovely to drive, and very very Italian. However, with stagnant sales numbers and a fairly outdated powertrain the 4C is being pulled from the showrooms, it's truly a sad day as we wave goodbye to this future classic.

2. Mazda Miata - 7,753 Sold

Despite being one of the greatest sports cars money can buy the MX-5 is seemingly struggling to pull its weight when it comes to sales. Having once sold in the millions these new sales figures sure do seem like a fall from grace, down 13% from last year's numbers despite a newly revamped 2.0-liter engine.

3. Acura NSX - 238 Sold

The original Acura NSX is the reason that Ferrari of yours starts when you put your keys into the ignition. The original NSX was nothing short of a revolution, an affordable, reliable supercar, faster than a Ferrari, and more reliable than a Camry.

Those are the core ingredients of an NSX, and as you might imagine when Acura said they were going to do a new one we were all pretty excited, but once it came out... meh. It was a good car, but not great, definitely not the return of a legend like many were hoping it to be.

4. Mercedes-Benz SL - 1690 Sold

Yes that Mercedes SL, you know the $1 million gullwing one. This is the descendant of that legendary sports car, yet nobody seems to want one. Because for $155,000 the Mercedes SL AMG doesn't really hold a candle to any of its competitors. Let me ask you this, for $5,000 less wouldn't you rather have the much better Aston Martin V8 Vantage?

I mean the SL is an excellent car, nobody doubts that, but when stacked up against its competition you can probably see why nobody would want one.

5. VW Golf R - 4223 Sold

The VW Golf R is probably one of the best hot hatchbacks on sale today, and is a very capable enthusiasts car which doubles as a great daily driver. It's a true shame that nobody buys these things, because they really are great.

6. Hyundai Veloster N - 2212 Sold

This one is truly shocking, I mean it's significantly better than any of its competition form Subaru, and it even won Road and Track's Performance Car of the Year. However, nobody seems to want them, having said that, there's a fair chance that these will become pretty hot items on the used market once people realize how great these things are.

7. Porsche 718 Boxster and Cayman - 3880 Sold

The Cayman/Boxster platform is well known for being one of the best handling sports cars out there. With a mid-engined lay out Porsche's "entry-level" sports car is one of the best drivers car on sale today. However, due to a controversial 4-cylinder engine, this latest version seems to have slipped through the cracks, despite some truly eye-watering performance.
