Here's how the new Honda Civic could possibly look like
A prototype has been revealed by the Japanese automaker, and it looks like they're killing it with this one...
In all their 72 years of existing on this planet, the Honda Motor Company has produced some pretty cool cars. Cheap, reliable, and extremely usable. For years, some of their cars have been dominating the best selling charts consistently, and it's no doubt the Civic is one of them. The Civic is a compact sedan which was extremely popular ever since it hit the road 48 years ago, in 1972. Today, in its tenth generation, the success is still high. But it's also time for a change. After all, the tenth gen is 5 years old. For a few months now, we've been speculating the launch of a new, 11th gen Civic, and now, Honda themselves have revealed a concept which might eventually hit the road as the 11th gen Civic.
The design's completely new, with upscale, sporty looks
This prototype is the harbinger of the Civic sedan, expected to be launched in late spring 2021. The sedan will be followed by the Civic hatchback, the Civic Si and the Civic Type R. Everything about the design is different, with the only element similar to the tenth gen being the grille. And in my opinion, this thing looks sweet. Upscale, sporty, wonderful. I already can't wait for the Type R now.
The new prototype has lower overall height, a lower hip point, a low hood and front fenders as well as a low horizontal beltline. This means the car has an overall low and wide stance, making it all the more sporty looking. The upper body has also been redesigned to maximize visibility – by moving the front roof pillars rearward and relocating the side mirrors.
And the interior looks pretty sick
Meanwhile, the interior of the 11th-gen Civic has been boldly reimagined. It features a clutter-free instrument panel complemented by several new Civic-first technologies such an all-digital meter cluster and a new 9" full-HD Display Audio touchscreen. The dash features a honeycomb mesh accent that helps conceal the air vents.
This might just be the fun Civic everyone wants
Featuring multiple new active and passive safety systems, the 2022 Honda Civic is underpinned by a new sportier, fun-to-drive chassis, and will be served by more potent yet fuel-efficient powertrains.
Honda is expected to unveil the production version of the 2022 Civic Sedan sometime next year, probably closer to launch. More details will also be known by then.
But even with the little information we have about the 2022 Civic, I think Honda's killing it with this one. New chassis, new engines, more fun, better looks, a Type R soon, what's not to love?
