Here’s who my money is on for Formula DRIFT Seattle
Place your bets for the winner of Round 6 this weekend in Washington…
It's crunch time – this weekend round six of the 2017 Formula DRIFT Pro championship lands in Monroe, Washington at Evergreen Speedway. With just three rounds to go, and with the points race being so very tight at the top, this weekend will set the stage for the final bouts of the season.
It's been a mixed bag of results so far this year, but I'm calling it for round six. Here are my top picks for the podium. Cast your votes at the bottom!
Fredric Aasbø

An obvious choice you might think, given then he’s currently in second place in the championship and fresh off a victory in Canada, but these aren’t my only reasons for singling out the Norwegian Hammer. Aasbø has proven time and time again that he’s the king of the speedway circuits in Formula Drift, with the nimble Corolla iM seemingly able to cope with both fast, sweeping corners and technical infield sections. Plus, Aasbø won here in Seattle before – he was top of the podium two years ago in 2015. He’s my top pick for round six.
Aurimas Bakchisen

We’ve already seen what Odi is capable of this season when the Falken Tire driver stormed the boards in New Jersey, beating all and any in a dramatic climb to the podium. He’s also tasted blood at Evergreen Speedway before too, winning here last year. Odi needs to get back on his feet after a disappointing result in Canada last round, but the Lithuanian definitely has the fight in him.
James Deane

Even though he’s very Irish, and I’m very English, I still feel like James Deane is the ‘home team’ in Formula DRIFT. What can I say about The Machine that hasn’t already been said this season? The guy is living the dream, smashing his way through the competition in his first proper full season in Formula DRIFT. Him and Aasbø are neck and neck for wins this year so far, with Deane sitting just 34 points adrift at the top of the table.
Kristaps Bluss

One of the most aggressive drivers on the Formula DRIFT grid, both in and out of the car, Bluss is a monster. He’s been on the podium for the last three events with a third-third-second, so if the pattern continues he’s due a win soon. This is Bluss’s third full season in Formula DRIFT and it really feels as if he’s found his groove. With all the passionate support of the Latvian fans behind him, Seattle could be his moment.
Dean Kearney

Irishman Kearney started this season off strong, however the past two rounds have seen somewhat of a drop off in consistency. But Dean knows this circuit (he podiumed in second place here in 2014), he’s well settled in his car and he’s hungry for a strong end to the season. He’s an outsider for the victory in my eyes, but you never know, he might just surprise us all.

Rooting for Kristaps, of course, but I just don't see him taking the win this round. I do think he'll make into the top 4, if he can stay consistent.
My bet would be on Odi to take the win.
