Here's why I would sell my left kidney to own a Stelvio Quadrifoglio forever
Hot SUV's, like it or not, are here to stay. Everyone deep down loves seeing something huge moving faster than it physically should be able to - however my issue with fast SUV's is that generally they end up having a boring design, not looking... as good as they go. Alfa Romeo saw that issue, addressed it, then pumped a tonne of steroids into the design too.
The 2019 Alfa Romeo Stelvio Quadrifoglio is simply a monster, 3.8 seconds to 62mph and a top speed of 176mph. That performance is possible thanks to a 503bhp 2.9 V6 petrol engine which powers all 4 wheels - an engine which sounds truly perfect inside the car or outside.
You'll be drooling over it for days!
From the design point of view it goes without saying that Alfa have a heritage of making beautiful cars. The Stelvio Quadrifoglio is no exception, is has beautiful lines, perfect bulges and a front end which is so historically typically Alfa Romeo it hurts (in a good way). Match those design perfections with 20" alloys and a cloverleaf, you know it's special.
When you step inside you get a sense of quality, seats which hold you without question, a seating position which gives you full road visibility whilst not feeling like you're actually driving an SUV. Interior comfort is second to none, whilst the ride can be harder at times, you feel exactly what's going on - and surprisingly it's not very loud inside either. Needless to say it would be a superb daily, if you could afford the initial price tag and subsequent fuel bills.
The performance is mind melting!
As I mentioned earlier, the physics behind making something big move fast is amazing - however the way the Stelvio Quadrifoglio moves is beyond words. The AWD system doesn't understeer as you'd expect (if anything, you get a nice tiny dose of over steer), the 0-62mph runs don't feel sluggish and in corners it feels as nimble as a car half the size. This is one of those cars you get in to and immediately feel comfortable enough to turn all the driver aids off and just... enjoy the drive.
The steering feel is weighted nicely, the accuracy is superb, pedal feedback is exactly as you'd want - and the noise coming out of the back of the car is enough to send shivers down your spine. There's no denying the Stelvio Quadrifoglio is a bigger car, but it doesn't feel it at any point. Even driving down country lanes, you don't worry for visibility - thoroughly thought out.
Perfectly designed alloys, with what's behind them letting you know among other things... it's special!

It takes a lot for me to fall in love with a car, however I had a feeling when I did it would end up being an Alfa Romeo so I'm not really surprised. More than just performance or beauty, the Stelvio Quadrifoglio has bundles of character more than any of the competitors. It also has performance which is so driver engaging I'm yet to drive another hot-SUV which even comes close. Base prices are around £69,500 - perfectly priced for the segment! So... does anyone know anyone who wants to buy a kidney?
