Hero's Santosh & Buhler register for Dakar 2021, Raorane enters in Malle class
Two Indian riders have registered themselves for 2021 Dakar Rally.
With the whole cross-country rally calendar getting interrupted due to COVID-19, teams, drivers and riders are still gunning for Dakar 2021 to be held in Saudi Arabia in January. The preparations for many is already underway despite lack of competitive running.
For now, the 2021 Dakar Rally is on and not affected by COVID-19 but some anxiousness will always remain until it has started. The registerations for the event has also begun and two Indian riders have already registered themselves for the big-ticket event.
In fact, one of them is part of the Hero MotoSports Rally team. He is none other than CS Santosh, who will start his seventh Dakar Rally, aiming to better his results. The Indo-German outfit will return to the cross-country event after losing Paulo Goncalves during the rally.
The team did not finish the competition as a result. His teammate should be Sebastian Buhler, who has also registered for 2021 Dakar. While Hero seems to be preparing for the rally, there is no word on Sherco TVS side so far, with little movement from their end.
Meanwhile, the other Indian registered is Ashish Raorane, who has been into cross-country rallying for the last few years, whether it is competing in India or internationally. He will ride the KTM 450 machine in the Malle Moto category, which is for unassisted entrants - where he will be on his own in the competition with no team back-up.
The Indian manufacturer pulled out of the rally in grief of the Portuguese.
