Hilarious Road Resurfacing Skirts Around Parked Car
Even the BBC reports this as an 'epic fail'
Sounding a bit like a granddad, BBC News recently reported that Sefton Council of Southport, Merseyside, UK have committed an 'epic fail' in their roadworks.
Scheduled resurfacing work went ahead in spite of the presence of a parked car, forcing workers to skirt around the vehicle, leaving behind a very noticeable patch.
A woman who lives on Albany Road returned home from work to discover the obviously unsurfaced section directly outside her house.
Branding the council's response to the circumstances 'ridiculous', she said that the car belongs to her neighbour and decried 'the council's epic fail'.
It looks ridiculous, it's just so obvious
In its defence, Sefton Council said that residents were warned 'well in advance' of the resurfacing works taking place.
The resident, speaking to the Local Democracy Reporting Service, had this to say about the situation:
'It looks ridiculous, it's just so obvious because of how different the shades are.
'I don't understand why they couldn't have just knocked on or waited. The road looks so stupid now.
'I tweeted the council almost a week ago but nobody has responded.'
In a statement via a spokesman, Sefton Council addressed the situation:
'Letters were sent to residents well in advance of the resurfacing works, while signs were also erected to alert motorists to avoid parking on the highway.
'Unfortunately, despite their best efforts, contractors were unable to locate the owner of a vehicle which had been left on the highway and had to work around the car.
'To wait until the vehicle was removed at a later date would have caused unwanted and avoidable disruption to drivers who had kindly taken note of the works schedule.'
