Holden Commodore stomps out 3470.3 horsepower at Summernats
Twin turbos + big flames + four doors
Summernats 33 will be remembered as one of Australia's best car events, partly because of this record-breaking dyno run by the Castle Hill Performance Commodore. Following some disappointing-but-promising dyno runs on Friday and Saturday, the team made the decision to wind up the boost to 54 pound.
See the result for yourself:
The herculean twin-turbo Commodore is mostly relegated to drag racing duties these days. The LSx platform has been cast aside for a meatier Chevrolet 548ci big block with twin Garrett 98mm turbos.
The car has dipped into the 6 second mark on the quarter mile before, and almost unbelievably, is yet to hit its peak power. The team was aiming for 3500 horsepower and is determined to get there so watch this space for future updates.
