Honda and Jenson Button set to conquer new records

The "Time Attack" challenge is launched !

Since their collaboration in Formula 1 within the McLaren team, the British driver Jenson Button and the Japanese manufacturer Honda do not leave any more. Already officialized as a Honda NSX Super GT driver, the 2009 F1 World Champion will also travel the most iconic circuits in Europe at the wheel of the Honda Civic Type R.

Button will indeed be one of the four race drivers entered by Honda in the "Time Attack" challenge which, as the name suggests, will set new lap time records on several European routes. .

Honda wants to put all the odds on its side, and has joined with Button tourism drivers Tiago Monteiro and Esteban Guerrieri, not to mention the experienced Belgian driver Bertrand Baguette, who has long evolved in Japan.

And it is at the wheel of the Honda Civic Type R FK8, present at the Geneva Motor Show in a few days, that the four drivers will try to set new records for a front-wheel drive series car on the tracks of Spa-Francorchamps ( Belgium), Silverstone (United Kingdom) and Estoril (Portugal). Other circuits could also be added to the program, which is always temporary, with of course the same objective.

The FK8 used will not be changed: it will be the standard road model, equipped with road tires and powered by the 2.0-liter turbocharged engine of the Civic Type R, developing 320 horses for 400 Nm of torque . She is able to achieve the 0 to 100 km / h in 5.7 seconds.

As a reminder, the latest Honda Civic Type R already holds the lap record for a production line car on the famous Nürburgring route, made last year in 7'43''8.
