HOT SIXTY 4TH: Got Tires?
A look at a past M2 release ((hotsixty4th M2machines hakosuka yokohama autohaulers)
Welcome to Hot Sixty 4th where I showcase DLM 1/64 and smaller and sometimes slightly larger. Some of you are probably familiar with this logo as this appeared in a previous post on the Yokohama tire shop. This box trailer was actually borrowed from a M2 Machines so for my 99th post in Drivetribe and 345th total post I bring you Auto hauler S33 Walmart exclusive 1957 Mack Model N and '71 Nissan skyline GT-R from M2 Machines.
This was at a time when M2 joined the JDM bandwagon and the Auto Japan series was introduced. I managed to collect most if not all of the 3 Nissan models and it wasn't long before a Japanese casting would appear in Auto Hauler. If you collect this series you will notice that M2 would match the brand of the semi with the car included. However M2 had never created a Japanese casting of a semi tractor so what came out instead is the '57 Mack model N COE. The only problem I see is if your display needs to be period accurate then this would not work as the USA never imported the Skyline back in the 70s and if Japan did have the '57 Mack, it would have been retired by then. This set was probably released in late 2018 or early 2019.
Although M2 brags about the detailed of their casting it lacks side mirrors and no separate air hose at the rear though it came with separate headlights, airhorn and moving 5th wheel. This is understandable due to its price point.
The box trailer is made of plastic with a metal base. It has an opening double doors.
Of course most people would purchase this due to the Nissan Skyline.
I really like the livery and this was based on an early Yokohama design and most likely based in early 70s. The only opening feature is the hood.
I was really excited when I found this at Walmart and it really paid off as I was able to use the box trailer in my Tomicarama Yokohama tire shop diorama.
