Hot Sixty 4th: Merc in Black
Borrowed from 'Men In Black' (hotsixty4th Hotwheels carculture Mercedes)
Welcome to Hot Sixty 4th where I showcase DLM 1/64 and smaller and sometimes slightly larger. When I saw Hot Wheels came out with this classic Mercedes I imagined this would be close to what it would look like had Lesney created it back then and so for my 107th post In Drivetribe and 353rd total post I bring you the Car Culture '72 Mercedes-Benz 280 SEL 4.5 from Hot Wheels.
I imagine the look of this car could be used as a villain's car in one of those James Bond movies. This is considered a luxury car during its time. Even though it does not have the hubcaps on the wheels, Hot Wheels made the right choice in using the steelie as it does not diminish the classic stock look.
There are tampo on the sides including the front and back. The front is missing the logo emblem (most likely to avoid any fragile parts) and the rear Star logo tampo looks a bit too thick. The 280 SEL printed on the left is not as crisp. However the license plate number at the back looks good.
