Hot Sixty 4th: Saturday Super Subaru

Returning to the past

Welcome to Hot Sixty 4th where I showcase DLM 1/64 and smaller and sometimes slightly larger. When you hear the brand Subaru the first thing that might pop up to most is Impreza. But before Impreza was born there is the classic 1000 born in May 1966. And so for my 33rd post in Drivetribe and 279th total post, here is the Subaru 1000 Super DX by TLV.

The detail in this is truly a beauty for a 1/64. The paint job, the hubcaps, the while wall tire, the lens on the headlights and taillights all worked pretty well together. This is one of the early releases by TLV before most collectors were aware of the brand.

If you are looking for true 1/64 classic Japanese cars, look no further.

  • The front end looks like a 1963 Ford Corsair.

  • At first glance I always thought these were a kei car. But that bonnet is so long, apparently there's a pretty meaty powerplant under there producing 50+ hp (pretty good for the time all things considered).
