HOT SIXTY 4TH: THE CAR THAT KEEPS ON GOING
A classic car from Toyota presented by Tomica (hotsixty4th TLV Corolla)
Welcome to Hot Sixty 4th where I showcase DLM 1/64 and smaller and sometimes slightly larger. This may not be a Ferrari nor a Corvette and may look somewhat ordinary but the Corolla is one of the best selling car in the world. However in the world of 1/64 it may be quite different as most die cast companies may feel that no one will be interested in a replica of an ordinary looking car. However one company took the task of replicating a Corolla from the past so for my 105th post In Drivetribe and 351st total post I bring you the LV-N08 (c) Toyota Corolla 1500 SE limited by Tomytec.
Toyota in its early days likes to use Crown as the name for their model whether it's in English or latin. The word Corolla is latin for 'Little Crown'. The Corolla was introduced back in 1966 and still exist to this day. The replica below is based on the 6th generation (E90).
Tomytec is well known for creating realistic looking Japanese car in 1/64 and by the looks of it does not disappoint. Even the shape of the steering wheel is based on the actual wheel used in the car and not just a generic.
While this model was a more recent release back in December of 2020, I also acquired another Corolla of the same generation that was released back in August 2018. Although they may at first glance looked identical there are some differences.
What's great about Tomica is every detail and differences are not compromise when there are changes in the actual car no matter how small even all the way to the hubcaps. In fact these 2 are release with different box numbers which indicates that they were created using different molds.
Sure they may not be the most popular casting a collector would want nor is the price cheap but if you are a serious JDM fan or even just a casual but wanted a true Japanese car replica in stock, no one beats TLV-N.
