Hot Wheels' Mercedes A Class is Pure 1/64 Goodness
Every car deserves a second chance, as Mattel shows us
Hot Wheels have been on a hot streak recently. They dropped the immaculate Alfa Romeo 33 Stradale as well as their "NightBurnerz" set, consisting of some of the best performance cars to grace this Earth. Apart of that new set is the new Mercedes A Class, with all of its glory as I found at the grocery store for one dollar. You may be asking yourself, "Why is an A Class featured with cars like the McLaren Senna and Bentley Continental GT3?" That's because it's a gem, even in 1/64 scale.
I've been quite fond of the A Class since the 2018 release of the W177 generation. With more than 200 horsepower, it is an adorable little warm hatch. And Hot Wheels did it right when they scaled it down. In fact, Hot Wheels did better with its A Class reproduction than many of its other models. Evidence of this can be found on the rims where Hot Wheels finally ditched its standard ugly five-spoke rims that it unfortunately forced on the Centenario Roadster and 944. Instead it gave the A Class far classier and more reserved black and silver five spokes. Additionally, between the detailed head and taillights, painted grille and a subtle vanity plate there isn't much to complain about. Especially for a buck. There are very few castings for this price I'd rather have.
