The SEMA 2018 show is finally here and after only one day, I have so many things to share with you guys. I have to say, I am pretty impressed with the exhibits. I mean, there are hundreds of companies, both big and small, that have to impress B2B buyers. To outshine their competition requires some pretty outstanding displays and visuals. So, I thought I would spend my first day discussing the wackiest booths and concepts I have seen so far. After all, I will be here for the whole show, courtesy of DriveTribe, and I have a bunch of other cool stuff that I will be a part of so stay tuned 😉. Anyway, it's 10pm here and I've been editing content this whole time for you guys so I'm going to grab dinner now. Wish me luck as I'm wandering around Las Vegas for the first time.
Let's get started!
THESE GIANT TRUCKS
To start off, I want to appreciate what comes with the territory of being in Las Vegas. Of course, we're going to have an array of muscle cars and giant trucks galore! And yes, I look super tiny in the first picture 😂
THE FIRST CENTENARIO ROADSTER
This is the very first Roadster produced out of only 20 in the world. It's worth around $2 million Euros.
There seems to have been some hidden competition to make the most ridiculous cars. Word on the street is that the paint companies have already sold out of the normal colours so this is what's left. Other than that, some people have chosen to put in the most absurd engines, slapped on as many turbos or superchargers as possible, and shoehorned them into the strangest looking cars available.
HOW LOW CAN YOU GO?
HOW ABOUT NOW?
THE BULLITT MUSTANG
This is the actual Mustang driven by Steve McQueen in the movie Bullitt. (One of the greatest car chases ever, obviously!)
THIS ONE LOOKS NORMAL AT FIRST.
Just your typical Shelby Cobra...
This one is gutsy. With no filter, how long before the engine blows up? It sure looks beautiful though. It's got that nice clear cover so you can see the eight intakes. Do you think they're made out of copper?
THIS HUMONGOUS WING
Because it is the largest wing I have ever seen. Can anyone beat this? I hope they've modified this so it's rear wheel drive otherwise I'm not really sure what the hell the wing is doing.
SPOOKY CAR SKELETONS FOR HALLOWEEN
THIS TURBO ON A MOTORCYCLE
Motorcycles with turbos are just plain awesome!
MERCEDES-BENZ 300 SL (GULLWING)
The Mercedes-Benz 300 SL is a drop dead gorgeous car from the 1950s featuring very distinctive gullwing doors. Given its age, beauty, and rarity, it is highly sought after and highly expensive. To top it all off, it's no slouch; it was the fastest production car in its day.
Trucks with tracks instead of wheels, crazy lifted Jeep, and a murderous 'Hellcab.'
And that's it! Which was your favourite? Also, what do YOU want to see from SEMA? Let me know in the comments!
