Pushing engineering boundaries in any form is always going to need deep pockets but the exact figures are normally left solely to our imaginations. The people behind the Bloodhound SSC land speed record attempt car however have opened up the doors to exactly the size of budget you need to take on this awe-inspiring feat.
Set to break the land speed record next year in South Africa, Bloodhound SSC is aiming to reach over 1000mph, obliterating the current record of 763mph held by ThrustSSC. And this short clip shows us just how much it will cost to try to accomplish that mind-bending speed.
Compared to other high speed endeavours like Formula One and other projects in the aeronautical industry, Bloodhound seems to be very efficient with its spending and uses a chunk of its budget to help give back to the engineering community. It's through this process that we hope to see such records being challenged in future.
The car is due to commence dynamic testing at Newquay airport (UK) later this year, with the 200mph airstrip runs opening to the public on Saturday 28th October. DriveTribe will be covering Bloodhound's progress through technical content and exclusive interviews with the people involved, so stay tuned for further news on the 1000mph attempt.
