How the Audi R8 got me into writing about cars

The sonorous V10 proved to be the catalyst for getting me to where I am now

It all started 4 years ago. I was 13 years old and was obsessed with watching Top Gear. One day, while scrolling Youtube I saw Jeremy Clarkson reviewing an Audi. The first thing that striked to me mind was - 'wait, that looks like a supercar'. I clicked on that video and my love for the R8 began.

After digging a bit more, I found out that the R8 had probably one of the best sounding engines ever fitted to a car - *that* iconic V10. Slowly and slowly, I started reading about cars and thought of writing about them and expressing my opinion about them.

I started my Wordpress blog and the first car I wrote about was, you guessed it, the R8.

I formulated the idea of a dream garage and included three cars into it - the Audi R8, the BAC Mono and the Rang Rover.

'The flappy paddle gearbox in the R8 is fantastic. It will change gear before you can say “Does it come in manual”. Which it doesn’t by the way and this is a good thing because you don’t need the manual in my opinion. The roar of that V10, it is just astonishing. It is I think a Grand Tourer. Good for solo trips.

I like it in Orange, Red or Yellow.'

In the above paragraph I am talking about the new Audi R8. My writing wasn't quite up to the mark at that time, it was my first ever post at the end. After writing about my dream garage, I wrote about some top Gear episodes, then about F1 and then I wrote an article regarding the transition between electric cars and petrol-powered cars.

That article served as being the launchpad for me at Drivetribe. Since that article, I kept on writing about cars on DT. And the rest, as they say, is history.
