Hummer EV customers may be getting their truck sooner than expected

Good news! For once

Surprise surprise, GM is ahead of schedule and is reportedly ready to deliver the first batch of Hummer EV trucks to customers on December 1st. If - and that’s a big if - they pull it off, I think we should take our hats off because these days automakers routinely miss delivery targets and deadlines by months, if not years.

According to GM, the Hummer will have a range of 329 miles and it’ll also have a hefty price tag: $110,295 for the Edition 1. Speaking of which, buyers are apparently very eager to get their vehicle as 80% of preorders are for the Edition 1. Mind you, you only needed a $100 deposit to secure a reservation.

There will also be a slightly less expensive model, priced at ‘just’ $80k, but that will only be available in 2024.

The EV truck frenzy has just begun and the GMC Hummer EV (we really should just call it the ‘Hummer’) will have to bump heads with the Tesla Cybertruck, the Ford F-150 Lightning, the Rivian R1T and many more.

There are three reasons why, money no object, I’d pick the Hummer over the aforementioned rivals: the Crab Walk feature, the looks and the name. Hummer.

What do you think? Would you buy this?

  • Only reason I would buy it is to Cummins swap it, drop the 12 valve out of a UCC truck into this and see what it can do with 2,000+hp and around 3,000 ft lbs.
