Hyundai Invests $410 million in making Santa Cruz Pickup
On November 13, Hyundai (more specifically Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Alabama) announced that the Santa Cruz pickup will actually be a thing, and will be manufactured right here in the U.S. of A, at a plant in Montgomery, Alabama. The Santa Cruz will join the Santa Fe and Elantra as the Hyundai vehicles to be produced at the new plant.
The Santa Cruz pickup debuted in 2015 at the Detroit Autoshow. No one really thought it would be put into production, but surprise!

The $410 million investment is to expand the plant in order to fit the Santa Cruz production. Hyundai says that the new expansion will increase employment at the plant by over 200, and that the local suppliers are expected to hire around 1,000 more employees!
Production of the Santa Cruz will begin in 2021. Until then, we just have to dream about what a Hyundai pickup will be like.
