I created print advertisements for cars
...using Assetto Corsa, mods for Assetto Corsa, and a powerpoint.
I always had a deep interest in car advertisements, and after doing a series of car commercials reviews and making lists of my favorites, I developed a desire to actually create one by myself. So, after the tests, I decided to 'use' Assetto Corsa and my large collection of mods to make the advertisements I wanted to make, instead of mindlessly spending the time playing video games.
I originally planned to create video commercials, but unfortunately, Assetto Corsa's camera system is not so intuitive, and I was unsatisfied with most of the footage I filmed for hours. So I diverted my direction and worked on making paper advertisements with Assetto Corsa screenshots and the tool I was used to: Powerpoint.
Toyota GR Supra: Side-effects
Track: Trento-Bondone, Car: GR Supra (https://drive.google.com/file/d/1dHWEX_5S_gODQloFp-dA1Wg7mEAn-KdV/view)
Instead of just explaining Supra as 'SUCH FAST, MUCH HANDLING, WOW', I wanted to describe Supra as a form of leisure: a car that can take you away from all the stress in your life, and a car that will present the driver such an unforgettable experience...
Recognizing that the Supra is, still, a car that has to drive on public roads and obey traffic laws, I wrote parts of the narration that emphasizes the 'honestness' of the advertisement, making the readers get interested in what the advertisement is going to say (because they know that the advertisement wouldn't be about bluntly demeaning the advertising object... I think). By making the readers invest time in reading this advertisement, I anticipate for them to be interested in the GR Supra.
Porsche 718 Boxster S: "Vitamin D supplement"
Track: Highlands, Car: Porsche 718 Boxster S
Most people dream of enjoying sunlight while driving a convertible, so based on that dream and the prevailing issue of vitamin D deficiency, I had an idea of making the Boxster a vitamin D supplement.
For the narrative part, I wrote it in a similar style of vitaminwater® narrative texts, focusing on how riding the 718 Boxster can help you fill up your vitamin D amount and that you will have more enjoyment than worries, thanks to the Porsche engineering.
Subaru WRX STi: "Appreciate"
Track: Black Cat County, Car: Subaru WRX STi (https://drive.google.com/file/d/1dHWEX_5S_gODQloFp-dA1Wg7mEAn-KdV/view)
Knowing that people are now forced to wash their hands (and feet) countless times and that so many cars nowadays are becoming automated by at least some degree... I found that Subaru WRX STi is a car that still has a lot of manually operated parts, notably the gearbox. To highlight that fact, I discussed how our hands and feet should be 'rewarded' with a gearbox you manually shift with your hands and delicately press the clutch with your foot, and an All-Wheel Drive system that lets you freely turn the steering wheel and slam the pedals after getting rubbed by soaps and hand sanitizers for so many times.
Alfa Romeo Stelvio: "Fatality"
Track: Bannochbrae (https://tm-modding.eu/reboot-team-tracks/), Car: Alfa Romeo Stelvio (https://assettoland.wixsite.com/assettoland/alfa-romeo)
The current car industry is filled with so many SUVs and crossovers, to the point of some people having allergic reactions to them. And so, instead of showing how this sport utility vehicle can freely move around both the urban and the rural environment, I decided to show the 'SUF'.
With a thunderbolt in the background, I stressed the image of tensity and provocation of the Stelvio and used the catchphrase for further emphasis. I wanted to create a neat and clean but also dark and intimidating atmosphere.
Mercedes-AMG GT 63 S: "Defibrillator"
Track: Bernese Alps (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CccXCGX5Fi4), Car: Mercedes-AMG GT 63 S 4-door Coupé (https://www.facebook.com/notes/mnba-assetto-modding-group/release-mercedes-benz-gt63s-amg-final/3633060563441527/)
I originally had a narrative text on the advertisement, but due to my mistakes, it was erased and I was unable to recover it... So, I changed the template and the photo to accentuate the mythical and chimerical imagery.
As the Mercedes-AMG GT 4-door Coupé features a 4-door body, I added the 'daily use' part to show how this defibrillator, while having similar characteristics, differs from the 2-door Coupé version.
Taking screenshots, editing the images, setting up a layout design, coming up with a catchphrase, and doing final edits all took about 3 hours per advert. As I'm not good at editing images and using professional design tools, I often spent too much time working on one project and was also overstressed by it. But as I uploaded these images and wrote descriptions about them, I can say that it was fun to work on subjects I'm deeply interested in and passionate about. I'm not going to say that these are good works, but I would say that the effort I put into them felt meaningful and motivating.
