I Didn't Think Max Verstappen Earned This Much!
The details of Verstappen's Red Bull contract leaked!
Dutch Formula 1 driver, Max Verstappen became the youngest driver ever to participate in a Formula 1 race, competing in the 2015 Australian Grand Prix at the age of just 17. He also holds the records for the youngest driver to lead a lap in Formula 1, and the youngest driver to win a Grand Prix race. In 2016, Verstappen replaced Daniil Kvyat at Red Bullt mid-season, winning his debut race with the team.

A Dutch publication has managed to get hold of the contract details for the driver. Now at 20, Verstappen signed his contract with Red Bull before the American Grand Prix last year, receiving €5 million as a signing bonus. The contract allows the driver to receive a basic salary of €6 million per year with Red Bull. For every point Max scores, he receives a €50,000 bonus. For every win? A cool €250,000 bonus. As every win gives the driver 25 points, Verstappen therefore earns a cool €1.5 million for each race he wins.
Verstappen could earn a maximum €37.5 million this year
With these bonuses and his basic salary, this means that Verstappen can earn a maximum €37.5 million, if he won every race. This compares to Hamilton's rumoured fixed salary €31 million with Mercedes. If Verstappen equals the amount of points and wins as he obtained in the 2017 season, the driver will receive €14.9 million, excluding sponsorship deals. Normally, the Dutch Government would take half of this away in taxes, but as Verstappen resides in Monaco, this is not possible. So long as Verstappen keeps us entertained on the television, all I can say is good luck to him and may he earn as much as possible!
