Back in the very late 1940's, my parents toured Europe on a BSA 250 Side Valve (a B20 I think).
My Mother says that BSA stands for Bloody Sore Arse.
At one point on the trip when in France, the local Gendarmerie was called by the hotel owner as they thought my Mother was a Flemish working girl. And we thought the French were liberated.
