I like the new M3 and M4. There, I said it!
Warts and all...
Ever since the brand new BMW design language (if you can call it that) came out, I have been slating it. It all started with the new 2 Series and it just went downhill from there. I haven’t been known to be a fan of the new style of grille all that much but something changed when the new M3 and M4 came out and I couldn't tell you what it is.
At first, I didn’t like them but after sleeping on it, I have decided I don’t mind them and that they’ll grow on me. In fact, I might even go as far to say I like them. It may also have something to do with the fact I have written so many things on them, and therefore have stared at them a lot. I guess it has just grown on me...
It seems to be the way the BMW design house wants to take things, so I’m here for that and I think it could look good once we adapt and see what else they have up their sleeves. It's like when a Marathon chocolate bar became a Snickers, some people adjusted, others still haven't. Just please, please don't make the M2 look like that...but it's bound to happen isn't it.
Yea, the buck teeth aren’t too great but that’s that, it cannot be changed, or at least I doubt it ever will be. But, the one thing I can’t stand is the Cruise Control sensor which is really sloppy design of you ask me. It has just been whacked in that grille whichever way it would fit. I thought it was a bit of broken trim at first!
Some other angles on the car a bit messy too such as the rear haunch which appears too smooth and not very aggressive, but I can live with that. People kicked off about the Tesla Cybertruck when that was announced last year, but no one cares anymore. We will all grow to like this new design with time. And whether we like it or not, it's here to stay.
I know this post may come off as being a little lopsided, but overall, I do quite like the look of these new M cars. I just need to see one in the flesh to make a final decision, but for now I like them....I can't believe I just admitted that.
