For those of you who have been following me since the beginning, (on DriveTribe only...) you will know that I used to have a 2006 Ford KA for a brief moment in time before it got squashed by a lorry. Not only was this car great fun to drive, it was also my very first car.
Since then, I have been travelling away from home so have had no need for a car but since starting University, I have become very fond of the idea of hopping back in a car of my own. While driving the family Skoda Yeti around is fun, the insurance is killing my wallet softly...
What do I want to get then? Well, unlike all these successful YouTubers, I have a very limited budget of no more than £2,000. But, this isn't the biggest problem. The biggest problem for me is insuring the damn thing. The average quote I get for insurance is around £800 - £3,000 a year depending on the car of course. It can go a hell of a lot higher than that.
So, I need something cheap to buy, cheap to insure (I'm 19 years old), cheap to run and reliable. I know this doesn't leave me with much room for an exciting car but at this point in my life, as long as it gets me from A-B I'm not too fussed. I'm hoping the more fun stuff can come in my later years.
So far, I have looked at the Volkswagen UP/Mii/Citigo, VW Polo, MG ZR, Suzuki Jimny (I know it's a stretch but that would be mint), VW Fox, Suzuki Swift, Vauxhall Astra and Peugeot 107. These are just very rough ideas so far.
I would be potentially properly looking for a car around June 2020 time. If you have any suggestions, I would be very keen to hear them and am open to all sorts of suggestions. As long as they are realistic, I will pay attention. Who knows? I may end up listening to you and having a great time, or experience a living hell...

Practice what you preacheth, and get a Dacia. I can't even remember the model names.
Would it be a sin to say I don’t want one?
