If there's one thing Ian Hutchinson needed to avoid, it was another crash. After making a miracle comeback from almost losing his leg in 2010, he's gone on to win yet more TT's and was right up at the sharp end again.

2017 proved no different with Hutchy making it to 16 wins going into Friday's Senior TT. Whilst pushing for the lead he lost the front at the 27th milestone and was lucky not to be more seriously hurt, suffering a broken left femur.

Get well soon Hutchy.

  • Last Christmas, I fell off a ladder. A three foot thick slab of concrete broke my fall. Also broke my left femur. It was a spiral break over half the length of my femur. Got a 16" titanium rod down my femur, a 6" titanium screw in my hip joint and various metal clamps holding everything together. Healing well at first, then not so well with lots of pain caused by bone rubbing on bone. My surgeon recommended buying an Exorgen Ultrasound Bone Healing System ($1,800 Canadian). Use it 20 minutes same time every day. Don't feel it but seems to be helping. Worth giving it a try as Ultrasound is known for stimulating bone growth. Also, in Canada, they'll refund your money if it doesn't work. Good luck, Ian. Hope you heal extra quick. Mike Harrison.

  • Why does he have a lever below his clutch lever, for his rear brake as opposed to just using his foot?

    • His left foot doesn't work correctly after a crash in 2010 so he moved the gearchange to the right hand side. The rear brake that used to be there is then moved to the thumb

    • He is unable to use his foot as his ankle doesn't have and movement in it from his previous accident which was quite horrific nearly causing him to loose his leg.
