Iceland. Perfect road trip

Pride and secrets of the country

Iceland, a country full of wonders and comparable to Australia. Because much in nature with exactly the opposite repeats ours, and in a society of people everything is very correct and progressive, when there is a mess in other places of the Earth. The sky from the northern lights is green, and earth, houses and all around it becomes shining dark blue in the twilight, and light blue in the daytime, because the snow in Iceland has an unusual light blue color. The local mountains look like trees. The caves they basically have the entrance only by water. And the boat is the best and favorite transport of Icelanders. The buildings are like ice, and the landscapes are completely unearthly, and for this very reason the Game of Thrones was filmed here. Names in Iceland are predictable (Eyjafjallajöküdl volcano). And the birds in the style of the Grand Tour and fascinate at first sight, although they are not like our pigeons.

In 1980, Iceland became the first country in Europe where a woman was elected president, and in 2010 a ban on strip clubs was imposed in support of feminism throughout the country. The guarantee of religious freedom and the laws strictly prohibiting discrimination on any basis made Iceland the world leader in the field of human rights.

How to name a child decides the committee. The committee in Iceland consists of 6 people: 3 are appointed by the Minister of Justice, 3 more are appointed by the country's higher education institutions. This is done because the country in the fight against foreign borrowing in the first place defends their native language. New allowed names are added to the list quite often. Thus, for example, the names Geimar and Brimtour for boys and Goodna, Iselin and Louni for girls were adopted. But the name Andrew was rejected because his writing does not comply with the rules of the Icelandic language.

According to local folklore, trolls live in rounded stones. If an Icelander sees such a stone in his path, then in no case will he touch it and bypass it so as not to disturb the spirit. And if the “troll's house” needs to be moved to another place, then a special person is invited, who will agree with the spirit to leave. Even laying a new highway, designers always consult with experts in folklore, so that they do not inadvertently affect the habitat of the trolls.

Family - the main value in the life of an Icelander. The country has created all the conditions for a happy and safe childhood: cozy schools with a variety of curricula, development centers, manuals. But most of all inspired by the lack of orphanages. In Iceland, there are only temporary shelters, where the abandoned child or orphan in a short time pick up parents from a whole line of welcoming families who are ready to take him under their care. The first nursing homes, by the way, also opened quite recently, since traditionally younger children consider it their duty to come together with elderly parents to provide them with a decent old age.

The Blue Lagoon is one of the most popular places in Iceland. A huge lake with slightly muddy and whitish, like whey, water from sources formed at the site of cracks in the frozen lava of ancient volcanoes. The water is rich in mineral salts, quartz and silicon. In it live algae, both green and blue. "Blue Lagoon" was awarded the title of the best SPA resort in the world.

The lagoon itself is small. Its width is just over two hundred meters. Depth - about half a meter. The bottom - completely smooth - is covered with clay, formed from silicon. Local dirt has the ability to cleanse the skin, and algae - to nourish. Water enters the lake from underground sources, passing through a thick filter of volcanic tuff.

The water temperature in winter here does not fall below 30 ° C, and in summer it rises to 40 ° C. It is recommended to freeze slightly before diving. SPA procedures at the resort in the lagoon itself are carried out outdoors using cosmetic products from the Blue Lagoon Skin Care line. Nearby you can see geysers and walk along lava fields.
