Ido Cohen becomes first Israeli in #ADACF4 with BWT Mücke Motorsport
The preparations for the 2018 Formula 4 season are picking up speed, with Israel's Ido Cohen strengthening the BWT Mücke Motorsport squad. For the 16-year-old, a full season in ADAC Formula 4 as well as stakes in the Italian equivalent are planned. Cohen will become the first Israeli to compete in ADAC F4.
Cohen was born and raised in Tel-Aviv. Motorsport is not one of the most popular sports in Israel, in fact, there are no national karting championships or tracks where young drivers can prove themselves. In order to live his passion, he had to travel to Europe.
There, he started his career in the Rotax European Championship at the age of 13. In recent years, Cohen continuously competed in this championship as well as the X30 European Championship. He underlined his talent with numerous top-10 finishes. His biggest success so far was eighth place in the Rotax Senior class, in a highly competitive field of starters from 17 different nations at the Rotax International Open at Adria in 2016.

After gaining the first test kilometers in the Pink Panther F4 version of BWT Mücke Motorsport, Cohen wants to attack in the Rookie Championship for 2018 and follow the footsteps of today's big hitters in motorsport such as Sebastian Vettel, Pascal Wehrlein, Marco Wittmann or Lucas Auer, who also began their careers with BWT Mücke Motorsport.
"It’s a great honor for me to be a BWT Mücke Motorsport driver in the future. The team enjoys a high reputation and many Formula 1 drivers started their careers here. I felt at home within the team from the very first moment, with everyone being very professional and friendly. The test days were great, driving a Formula 4 car is an indescribable feeling and I can’t wait for the season to start to be racing for the first time", said Cohen.
Team Principal Peter Mücke added: "I have been in motorsport for many years and have watched and accompanied many talents on their way to the top. What impresses me over and over again is the absolute will to become a big player in our sport – despite numerous setbacks. Ido Cohen has taken the courageous step of coming from his home country, Israel, to Europe at such a young age, proving his passion and assertiveness to make his way to the top. We at BWT Mücke Motorsport are happy to accompany Ido and will always provide advice and support."
