Utter chaos unfolded during this weekend's FIA GT World Cup in Macau, as twelve of the twenty race-cars in the field were involved in a monster pileup.
The incident left racers “lucky to be alive” on the very first lap of qualifying on Saturday in Hong Kong, with vehicles piled one on top of another.
The stunned commentator describes the crash as “mayhem” and the “worst he’s ever seen in GT racing”, as the qualifying session was understandably stopped.
Brazilian Raffaele Marciello, of Mercedes-AMG Team GruppeM Racing, said “I was lucky and I am happy to be alive. It’s a special track but it’s also scary".
Another view of the incredible crash shows just four cars escape the pile up.
