Insert Your Own Playing Mantis Joke Here

Another Savers Score!

38w ago

I had to go to the Danbury, CT Lowes for parts this morning and the Savers store is 10-15 minutes away.

My third Redline from the Savers wall o' toys. It's not the same as digging through the flea market diecast buckets, but I'm not complaining.

My first Corgi Whizzwheels Monkeemobile though! And an actual Playing Mantis, the Coca Cola Tennis/Sports branded Camaro, a Darda Camaro, two blackwall Hot Wheels, coupla MBX and 2 unbranded clones.

This guy was waiting for me when I went outside to take these photos and was happy to be used as a prop. They don't like dead bugs either, I offered it some front my front porch renovation...Who knew...?

  • That bug is worth a mint even in toybox survivor condition. That Monkeemobile is too.

Here's my US made gold redline bug. This came from a large collection of old toys, old cameras, and pretty much anything & everything, in upstate NY, that was a family collection of stuff that the family patriarch had started collecting after he came back from the Korean War, and much of which was either my friend Marc's and his siblings' toys, or was was from the antique store the family owned in the 60s/70s.

  • Nice hawl. Darda Camaro is cool too.

    • Thanks, turns out there is an almost fanatical following for certain Dardas, I learned that recently when I put a few on the bay. Very surprising

  • This isn’t a joke, there’s praying mantis that’s above our front door at the moment. It’s literally been there for over a week! It moves now and then, so it alive, but I’ve never seen a big stay in one place for so long!

  • Too bad there wasn’t a late 90’s Johnny Lightning in the mix (obscure reference).
