Inside Barry Weiss' unique car collection: five of his top rides
What cars does the former TV star own?
Barry Weiss is most known from starring on the famous show Storage Wars. Although the show was really successful, Weiss made his some of his wealth from the music industry. He was both the Chairman and CEO of the Jive Label Group, a famous music producer in the USA.
Before appearing on Storage Wars, Weiss made a reputation for collecting antiques. But he made the most of his fortune from selling wholesale produce with his produce - which allowed him to collect some rather interesting motors.
Although Mr Weiss hasn't been making any shows recently due to a traffic accident, he has
Although Mr Weiss hasn't been making any shows recently due to a traffic accident, he has an estimated net worth of around $10 million. And over his numerous years in antique collecting Weiss has bagged some pretty interesting cars - here are five of the best:
Beatnik Custom
Yes, that is a retractable glass bubble roof.
The Beatnik is the work of one Gary ‘Chopit’ Fioto - a New York based custom car builder who definitely has a vivid imagination. It's a 1955 Ford with Cadillac inspired visual enhancements that took nearly three years to build.
Key features of this are the Jetson-style design, the retro-future interior and of course that huge bubble roof. Weiss' ride is considered to be the world’s largest bubble-top custom ride, according to Celebrity Cars Blog.
Lincoln Zephyr Coupe
This 1939 Lincoln Zephyr may look like an ancient Batmobile but this is a real and (somewhat) drivable car. Weiss snatched this beauty at an auction in 2013 for around $60,000 when the selling price was about $300,000.
He made a few modifications here and there, namely visual - including a flamethrower exhaust. With all the additions Weiss made, the worth of the car significantly increased compared to what it was worth before the restoration.
It is also worth mentioning that Weiss also owns the original or a replica of the Tim Burton Batmobile - now that's cool.
1940 Ford Coe Truck
And now we see how the pick-up trucks of yesteryear looked like. Unlike the slick looking Rangers and Hiluxs of today - this pick-up sacrifices style for functionality. The Coe pick-up trucks were custom built for a long and arduous life in the fields transporting produce.
It shouldn’t come as much of a surprise that Weiss decided to dish out a few dollars in order to get custody of this old school pick-up.
Maserati GranTurismo
Not all of Weiss' cars are unique one-offs. He enjoys cruising in his exotic Italian sports car when he's not prying open storage doors.
The GranTurismo has an engine which was developed in conjunction with Ferrari so it sounds great. With a power output of around 400bhp and a top speed of 177 mph - this Italian beauty is pretty quick.
This is not the only 'normal' car Weiss owns. He also has a modern Jaguar XJ - arguably one of the best cars Jaguar has recently made.
The Chicken Car
Weiss is known for owning rare and unique cars but this one takes the cake. This Chicken Car is based on a 1978 Oldsmobile 98 which is very popular in California. Weiss doesn't actually own this car but just look at it.
Weiss was seen driving this car on an episode of Storage Wars which sparked speculation whether he had bought it. The car actually belongs to Tommy Kendall, a retired racing driver in the Motorsports Hall of Fame of America and a current television broadcaster.
This is definitely one of Weiss' most funniest finds.
